Dr. Cobia is double boarded in Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine. She was born and raised in Birmingham, which is where she has ultimately settled to raise her family and grow her medical practice. She attended the University of Alabama where she double majored in Biology and Psychology. She then attended the University of South Alabama School of Medicine in Mobile, AL. She returned to Birmingham where she completed her residency at the Brookwood Baptist Health Internal Medicine Residency Program. She was then invited to remain a part of the program to serve a one year term as Chief Medical Resident. Since completion of residency, she has enjoyed practicing as a hospitalist, caring for new patients as well as familiar faces from her childhood in Birmingham.
She became interested in the pathology and physiology of Obesity Medicine after the birth of her first child in 2018, and gained board certification in 2021. Since that time, she has been growing her interests in all aspects of wellness, including how hormone balance affects weight and well-being, as well as training in modern aesthetics practices.
She currently lives in Vestavia Hills with her husband and three children, all Kindergarten and under!
Dr. Lewis is board certified in Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine. He majored in Computer Science at UAB and completed medical school and residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
He lives in Vestavia Hills with his wife, Katherine, and their two children.
Dr. Lewis has struggled with his weight his entire life, and understands very well the ups and downs of the weight loss journey, because he has been there himself. He knows all too well the physical and emotional strain excess weight can impose.
Dr. Rowell is a board certified Internal Medicine physician practicing in Birmingham. He is board-eligible in obesity medicine. He majored in Biology and Spanish at the University of Alabama and went to medical school at the University of South Alabama. He is an Army veteran.
Dr. Rowell is a board certified Emergency Medicine physician here in Birmingham. She is board-eligible in obesity medicine. She majored in Microbiology at the University of Georgia. She completed medical school at University of South Alabama.
Drs. Carson and Erin Rowell live in Mountain Brook with their 3 children (also ages 6 & under!).
Dr. Hull was born and raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. He attended Mississippi State University, where he received a BS in biology. Hailing from a family of osteopathic physicians, he received his DO from LMU-DCOM in 2015. He completed his internal medicine residency in the Baptist Health Systems program in Birmingham. He met the love of his life, Lillie, in 2018, and they were married in 2019. In early 2023, they welcomed their first child. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, cooking, and eating barbecue, as well as tinkering in his shop. He resides in Mountain Brook with his wife, daughter, and their black lab, Rose.
Weight and obesity have always been a struggle for Dr. Hull. As an osteopathic physician, he believes in a "whole-ism" approach to healthy weight loss, including attuning the mind, body, and spirit, but he also believes in "better living through pharmacy" as a physician trained in internal medicine.
Dr. Pridgen is thrilled to be on staff at Vulcan Wellness and Aesthetics! Elizabeth grew up and graduated from Vestavia Hills High School before moving to Athens, Georgia where she earned her bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from the University of Georgia. Go Dawgs! She then completed medical school at the University of South Alabama before moving back home to Birmingham. For the last decade, Elizabeth has split time between working in Urgent Care and managing her exuberant family. As a mother of four, Elizabeth understands the challenges of balancing work, family, and prioritizing a healthy lifestyle which is why she is ecstatic to work with Vulcan Wellness!
Katherine is a Registered Dietitian with a degree in dietetics from the University of Montevallo. She completed her dietetic internship and Masters in Clinical Nutrition with an emphasis in Health Administration at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and holds a Certificate of Training in Obesity for Pediatrics and Adults from the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Katherine has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings from Alabama to California and back. She believes all foods can fit into a healthy lifestyle, you should eat the rainbow (but Skittles don't count), and whatever peanut butter you grew up eating (creamy vs crunchy) you eat the opposite as an adult.
She lives in Vestavia Hills with her husband, Tom, their two children, her parents, 2 cats, and 2 goldendoodles.
